FIELD WORKERS WANTED

We are currently looking for casual Field Workers to represent DNAC/DTAC while assisting Archaeological companies with excavations on Dharug Country. No experience necessary.

 

Please note that this is casual work that will rely heavily upon work contracted to DNAC. The length of projects may differ from days to weeks. There may be slower periods with minimal work. During this time field workers can remain on our roster to be contacted to fill upcoming work. Earning Credits can be used for Centrelink. 

You must be willing to learn. No experience is required as you will receive on the job training on job and will gain invaluable cultural experience learning about the history of our Ancestors and Dharug Ngurra

 

Job description may include (but not be limited to):

Digging of test areas, this may include digging with shovels, trowels and other hand tools, depending on the depth of the excavation.

Removal of excavated materials into buckets and transporting materials to an onsite bagging area.

Sifting of excavated materials for artefact recovery.

Bagging and labelling of artefacts found.

 

Requirements

Interested parties must hold

A current White Card

A current driver’s licence, as field workers will be required to get to and from excavations sites.

A Tax File Number

A Superannuation Fund

A mobile phone as you will need to be contactable at all times.

 

Standard work gear is provided - gloves and gumboots.

 

It is also important that you:-

Be flexible as work may be dependable on weather and other mitigating factors.

Be reliable and punctual.

Have accommodation or reside locally, as some field work may require early morning starts.

Have continual availability for length of the assigned project.

 

As field work is laborious it is important that you be keen, fit and committed to carrying out the works for the entire project.
