Gulbangali Dharug Nura – Honouring Dharug Country
Gulbangali Dharug Nura is a long-term strategic partnership between Dharug Strategic Management Group Ltd (DSMG), Blacktown Arts and The Biennale of Sydney to reclaim Dharug cultural practices and memorialise the First Stolen Generations through site-based arts and cultural programs on the Blacktown Native Institution site.
The project aims to promote the site and its history and encourage community cohesion through being, connecting, art, culture and ceremony. Our gatherings from 5 April to June 7 will explore pre and post-invasion histories, storying, language and perspectives through site visits and performances expressed through the genres of dance, song, art, revegetation, performance, traditional and cultural practices and ceremony. This will culminate in a ceremonial gathering and unveiling of works by Dharug Artists Leanne Tobin, Venessa Possum and Leanne Mulgo Watson. Please come and join us and register for the events and in particular the 6th June, the main Biennale NIRRIN 2020 to promote the BNI site as an artist and our Dharug Artists.
